Practical Philosophy Kent runs a programme of courses drawn from the great philosophic ideas of East and West. You may stay as long as you like: for a term, a year, or a lifetime.
The approach is practical rather than academic. i.e. not a dry survey of great philosophical ideas as one might find in a university. Instead we offer exercises to refine the power of reason, attention and self-reliance which, if practiced, will produce over time a living philosophy that is of real value in meeting the challenges of daily life.
The courses lead to effective reasoned action in work, study and play. The emphasis is on learning from the most powerful of teachers: our own experience. Being present and mindful allows knowledge and love to work together to produce wisdom. Our aim is to equip you to uncover the unity underpinning all.
